Traveling in a fried-out combie On a hippie trail, head full of zombie I met a strange lady, she made me nervous She took me in and gave me breakfast And she said, "Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder? Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover." Buying bread from a man in Brussels He was six foot four and full of muscles I said, "Do you speak-a my language?" He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich And he said, "I come from a land down under Where beer does flow and men chunder Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover." Lying in a den in Bombay With a slack jaw, and not much to say I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me Because I come from the land of plenty?" And he said, "Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah) Where women glow and men plunder? Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover."
"Down Under" Men at Work
My favorite youth hostels

On my travels I stayed in a few youth hostels and here is the very short list of the ones I can recommend. Remember, these are places I primarily choose because it was cheap to stay there, so don't expect any luxury...
Where Nights Rating
The Yosemite Bug Lodge 4 Highly recommended
The [external link]Yosemite Bug Lodge is located close to the entrance to Yosemite National Park. It has cozy Rooms, a big dining hall with a fireplace and the patrons were extremly nice and helpful. BTW, the food is ok and they have guiness on tap ;-) Here's a picture of the main building.
Redwood National Park Hostel 4 Highly recommended
The [external link]Redwood National Park Hostel close to Klamath is located in the Redwood National Park, ~200m from the coast, it's fairly small, but it's comfortable.
Carbisdale Castle Youth Hostel 2 Highly recommended
[external link]Carbisdal Castle doesn't look like a youth hostel at all. It's a highland castle with a small collection of marble statues in the main gallery and is supposed to have a real ghost. When we stayed there, the place was full of other Germans but as soon as you left the premises and went into the moor you were all alone. One afternoon I was running through the moor for 2 hours and all I met were some deer.
Canterbury Youth Hostel 1 Recommended
The [external link]Canterbury Youth Hostel is an old villa close to the center of Canterbury, very nice. When we stayed there, they had problems with their warm water, but everything else was ok, even the english breakfast was eatable.
Stirling Youth Hostel 1 Recommended
The [external link]Stirling Youth Hostel is situated very close to Stirling Castle, "it is a largely modern building incorporating the facade of an old church - The Erskine Marykirk". Large, modern rooms, clean self-catering kitchen...
